Before starting make sure you have your Credit Card ready, know how to find the “security code” (usually a 3 or 4 digit number on the reverse of the card), and have the address and billing information associated with the Credit Card.

You will first be asked to check for your Domain name. Once this is done, choose “Select this domain” to continue. Skip the “Software Package”, and hit the “Continue” button.

If you already have a Domain name select “Choose a domain later” then skip the “Software Package”, and hit the “Continue” button.

Follow the rest of the instructions, and enter your information as you go. IMPORTANT: Make sure that you write down your password, as we will need it to access your hosting account.

HOSTING PACKAGES:
For most websites, the “1&1 Home” packages will suffice.

 For extended traffic or for particular reasons, 1&1 Business may be required.

All packages include one or more Domain names.

Unless there are specific requirements, the “Linux” servers should be used.

 

 

Domain Transfer:

If you already own a Domain name, you have two available options:

1) Transfer the Domain to 1&1
2) Point the Domain to 1&1

If you are happy with the yearly fees for your Domain name, the easiest option is to point the Domain to 1&1. To do this, we will require the login and password for where the Domain was purchased. After we have this information, we can log into your account and point the Domain to the 1&1 nameservers. Within 48 hours the Domain name will now point to the 1&1 webhost servers.

Domain names with the .ca can be purchased at a variety of locations:
www.cadns.ca
www.domainpeople.ca
www.planetdomain.ca

(Note: .ca domains are more expensive than .com)

Webhosting:

Domain Pointing:

After you have purchased your .ca Domain name and set up your 1&1 Hosting, we will need to point the Domain to the 1&1 web servers.

To do this, we will require the login and password for the Domain name. With this, we can point the Domain to the nameservers at 1&1. Within 48 hours the Domain will be active with your web hosting.
